manual boost controller

anyone have any experience with these from ebay

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/High-...Q5fAccessories

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Turbo...Q5fAccessories

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/SUBAR...Q5fAccessories

they look exactly like the ones you can make for around the same price but they're also powder coated and just saves me 30 minutes of tinkering lol

most manual bc's are pretty much the same, one thing you will want to look for is if it bleeds off.. if it doesn't your boost will slowly drop as you speed up, this is because the pressure stays in the waste gate actuator, causing it to stay open.. thus getting less boost. the simple fix is to create a leak between the boost controller and the waste gate, like a 1/64 or so hole this will allow the pressure to bleed of so your not loosing boost.
other than that i don't know how much power gain your looking to get from more boost on a stock setup? if your not stock fill me in on your mods? sorry i just have lots of turbo background and i am curios about the good o'l 22ret.

The 22ret is not a rocket on boost. Experts tell me 200rwhp is a lofty goal from that motor. We'll see!

Gotta figure out an intercooler, but I want to be able to dial boost in and out of the system depending on what I'm doing.

i have my camaro for speed, i just want to get this little puppy to power up hills lol
right now i only have a cut air box, no cat, and a 2.25" flowmaster catback, only planning on bringing the boost from 5psi to 9-10psi as a norm

right now it drives down the road fine and as soon as it boosts to 3-5psi it will pass people with the 4.10s and 33s

went offroading yesterday and still need 4lo to power through anything

you can gain a good chunk of power from adding an IC, dropping your intake temps will greatly improve your power output from your turbo.. build and intake to unrestrict the turbos low side, cool the air on the high side with the IC, throw in your BC and increase the pressure a few lbs due to pressure drop across the IC... do take into consideration that increasing the pressure(boost) does not usually increase volume/mass output of the turbo and that is were power increases come from... i ran a big turbo(60-1 compressor) at or around 5psi, but turbo output was around 500cfm.. these little guys on the rte's may only output 270ish cfm or more? but say it runs 250cfm at 5psi and 270cfm at 20psi the turbo is working harder than it should and pretty much just blows hot air that doesn't make more than a few hps over the 5psi..

for a 2.4L motor, these 38/50mm turbos are fine, at 8-10 psi i should be backing ~160hp which is enough to push my fat ass around

its my understanding that adding an IC won't add any hp until I'm at or above 12-14psi, until then the power level is the same just getting its power from colder air instead of more psi

and AGAIN, this is my offroad/ winter toy, i have my ls1 to go fast and it does a pretty good job at it
I personally believe anyone trying to make a 22rte a speed machine has way too much money to spend on something that will never be that fast, said and done ill have ~2500 into this truck

lol thats more like it, im the same exact way (soon to be Tech Ed teacher)

the ls1 is going to stay "stock" for now lol (I say stock loosely) once i blow the motor via age or nitrous then I plan on putting an LS3 in it, or if they're cheap enough at the time an LSA or LS9

but maybe you can answer this question: low end torque so i can get through stuff in 4hi instead of 4lo, thats the only power prob area, on the street its good as is, but an extra 3-5psi never hurt nobody

well you my first guess would be that the cam has no overlap, witch usually helps with low end power, and the compression is 7.5:1 via this sourcehttp://www.4x4wire.com/toyota/faq/parts/
so just throw some 22re pistons(9.3:1) and be set.. you will make more power and get better low end torque the bore and stroke are the same..
