How do I clean my MAF? ive heard of using some spray that is designed for it.

To get inside youll have to make a machine that shrinks you kinda like the one in honey I shrunk the kids

dont unscrew the 2 screws at the back.. try and just take it out of the intake.. then use electricial contact cleaner..
i just did mine and my throttle body because i sucked in a bunch of muddy water with no air filter ooooooooooops..
I still gonna take my afm out from the intake and clean it.. you a pencil to keel the flap open.. i just did it from the air filter side so far and my truck is almost running back to pre drowning

dunno all i know if i sucked mud through the throttle body so i was starting at one end testing things to figure out what was hurting my yota...

turns out i think it was a dirty tps.. but i cleaned the throttle body enough on the truck so its better now.. along with oil change and plugs new ditrib and wires.... my afm tested ok with multimeter and i read you could clean it just spraying electricial contact cleaner in it.

 

MAF <> AFM. Cleaning your AFM will not really affect the performance of your vehicle. On a later model that uses a MAF, cleaning it can temporarily repair/restore it's ability to measure the air charge, and restore driveability.

Cleaning up a gunky throttle, on the other hand, can and will make your truck run nicer. Use a rag to prop the TB open, and an old toothbrush, plus carburetor cleaner or 'Toyota Engine Pre-Tune.'

 

nice didnt think of a tooth brush.. ill try that tomorrow when i put my homebrew snorkel on so if i encounter any mysterious 3 foot mud holes on the trial this weekend i wont ruin my day

 

well i took the top cover off the MAF and to my suprise it was very clean even the little points. i guess it because it had silicone around the edge of it.
my truck still sputters and then all of sudden takes off, but when im on the highway it quits. ive changed the plugs, wires, rotor, cap, o2 sensor, and air filter. applied suction to the egr valve and it started to die meaning that the egr was good. i cant think of what else it could be except for the TPS, or igniter coil. my truck is an 87

 

yeah tps could need adjustment or new unit... im having the same issue after i drowned the trail rig.. i cleaned the tps from the throttle bodyinside and it helped.. im gonna test it tommorow when im working on it
