one time i snapped a rear leaf and i put a phone book on the bump stop to keep the tire from rubbing on the fender while i drove home

I like the radiator fixes. Why didn't you guys just pinch off the fins where it was leaking or was it more complicated than that?
Troy and I carry a lot of bolts, pipe chims and washers for those crazy you never know repairs like u bolts breaking or leaf springs. I've helped a truggy limp off of posion spider with wratchet straps and chain because the shackle mount for the leafs ripped off. That was pretty crazy. I like these suggestions. Ya just never know how inventive you can be when stuck in the middle of no-where!

so I've got lots of the pepper packets from drive-thru joints in the glove box just in case. it always seems to work on the pinhole leaks.
I've also heard cracking an egg into the radiator helps on some of the leaks too, but i've never tried it.
Maybe an egg, some pepper, and jimmy dean sausage links cooked on the exhaust.....

yep couple of the last hueys around, our last vietnam pilot just retired on friday, sadly the hueys will be leaving us too. Its too bad because they are the toyota of helicopters, very little maintenance needed to keep them up, very reliable, more fun to fly in then black hawks. Hawks are like fords, junk. hueys are easy to work on too kinda like an old chevy.

we use it on wiring especially antenna connector ends. really keeps the moisture out so the avionics keep working. ours inst called rescue tape i don't remember what its called but its the exact same thing.

So, what I'm getting from this thread is that I need to go buy some more ratchet straps.
I once had the A/C system fail 500km away from home on a very hot summer weekend, and my windows didn't roll down. I wired the A/C compressor right to the vehicles accessory power, through an extra switch I had in my dash, with some extra wire I had in my trunk. It worked so well, It's still in place.
I also had an inner fender liner come loose, and start rubbing against the tire. I pulled over, poked some holes in it with a knife, and tied it up with (the same) extra wire I had sitting in my trunk.

Just today my friends front driveshaft fell out on his samurai. He just installed RUF and didnt know that his spacer wasnt long enough. We were quite aways away from any tools so we tied it up with a belt

i was at the sand dunes in san nicholas in mexico and my yota was runnin on 3 cylinders and i couldnt figure out why, so i changed out the spark plugs, wires, and checked out everything i could. THEN i figured out it was the fuel injector clip that broke and wouldnt stay on. so i grabbed a couple zip ties and zipped them on(to this DAY the zip ties are still there holding the clip on)
