NOPE!! dont really care about these rims that much... plus come winter, they will be covered with mud...

and if it flakes, a repair job is just a spraycan away...

What do you mean people don't do prolong highway speeds on a mud tire??? What, people with mud tires don't travel? only drive around the block? I go where I want to with my mud tires on, better MPG if I swap them out with my set of A/T's but I don't avoid driving distance just becuase my M/T's are on the truck.

 

i think he means distances like, from sacramento to L.A...
which is about 600 miles or so...

why, no... no it doesnt...
the point is tho, that most people, when going on long drives, and IF money permitting, would switch over to an AT or HT tire for better MPGs and wear...

 

I've got two sets of tires but sometimes the time envolved isn't worth it to save a couple bucks in gas. I like the way my M/T's (not bfg) handle in the rain over the bfg A/T's, but they are better on gas.

okay, so i finally got the rims off the old truck and painted today...
THEY HOLD AIR!!

Just concerned about the closeness of the rear fenderwell and the tire now...

but i guess that means im getting new springs!!

also, dont know how much backspacing these rims have, but geesh, they stick out a lot... old rims and tires sat flush or just inside the fenderwell...
these are about 1 inch outside of it...

The only thing i gotta worry about now is the fact that for some reason it rubs a little at full lock to the left, but not to the right...
any ideas??? thinking i gotta crank the tbars a lil bit to clear them...

well, took the tires by Les Schwab's today and got a balance on them...
wow... not a single tire was less than 10 ounces out of balance...
lol...
rides better, but still shaky around 40mph...

anyways, went by the stealership afterwards to cajole with a buddy of mine at the service dept...
i asked him about recalls and he let me know that there was the steering linkage recall on my truck that hasnt been done yet, soooooo...
Toyota is going to replace that linkage and do a free 4 tire alignment as well!!! 330 dollars worth of work for free...

Those wheel looks like 3.5"ish backspaced..

Mine are, they look similar... You are gonna have to do some trimming, try turning the wheel and hitting a speed bump....

 

Still it's better to get a 4 wheel alignment done. A 2 wheel uses an imaginary centerline to set the front, a 4 wheel uses the rear wheels to set the front. It results in a truer alignment. They can also tell you if the rear wheels aren't true.

I drive a ford ranger at work and had the alignment set at around 30k. I drive over a lot of curbs when I work and the guy told me that my right rear spring hanger is bent a little from it. According to their spec it's fine for a few more years of it but he told me to jump them from the other side for a bit to even things out.
