lower rad hose just warm

I was driving around for over an hour and decided to change my oil when I got home. I noticed the upper rad hose quite hot but the lower cold , just a little warm. The truck was not over heating ,the oil seemed hot but not overly. Is this normal?

The lower hose is the return water to your engine after it has been cooled by the radiator... so yes, that's normal. Your radiator is quite effective if the return water is nice and cool
