Unhappy low and spratic oil pressure???

when im driving at about 2k-3k rpm the oil pressure needle is usually right in the middle, but some times when im driving the needle starts to drop when at a constant rpm and it gets to the first line in the gauge. but then the needle will barley move if i stop and take off and get back to 2k-3k rpm. i'm puzzled about what it could be. some one told me it could be a bad pressure relief spring?

also, when im cruising the trails of doing a little mudding and i get to 4k rpm where should the needle be a high rpm?
-thanks.

Hook up a real gage and then you'll know whether you have a problem or not.

Ya, could be your sending unit is leaking by showing a bad reading.

It sounds like the sending unit is bad.
