low shock absorbtion

I have a 91 4wd pick up, the suspension was bad when I got it, I replaced the front shocks and the lower ball joints, it was better for about two years, it is getting pretty bad again, I know I should have done the upper ball joints when I did the lowers, perhapes I need to do them now, someone mentioned adjusting the shocks, something to do with the nut on the top.
Any advice will be appreciated.

yes, you should do the top ball joints. They wear out faster than the lower ones due to the springs being on the upper control arm.
