Loud Tapping

Have a loud tapping sound which seems to be coming from the rear of the valve cover. After reading some threads on here, I adjusted my valves, changed my timing chain (everything ),and tried loosening the valve cover to make sure it wasnt to tight. Still have the LOUD tapping noise and was wondering what else could it be? I seen a thread where a video was posted up and my truck sounds the same. How hard is it to change bearings if thats the problem? The tapping will start after I start the truck and throttle it.....it gets louder the warmer it gets and very loud while driving.

I know after adjusting my valves the injectors are making the most ticking noises in my truck right now. Are you sure it's coming from the valve cover and it's not the injectors? Mine are outrageously noisy.

Don't all 22RE's sound that way?

I've had this since 2002, adjusted valves, changed timing chain, etc and it doesn't seem to disappear. I haven't done the injectors yet (in the next year.....), but I think they may be the culprit.

Good luck - keep us posted if you find the magic cure!

if we had a video of yours it would greatly help, or maybe even a link to the video in which you say yours sounds the same.

kind of hard to accurately diagnose any noises with just text.

Injectors are a "Tick" sound while rod/piston issues would be more of a "Clack" or "Knock"
