Loud Radio Quiet CD player?

Loud Radio Quiet CD player?
I was listening to the the radio while working on the 4runner and it sounded fine until I thought I'm gonna listen to a CD because the factory stereo has a CD player builtin. Put the CD in, it played, but it sounds like it's 40x less the audio power then the radio has. I can barely hear it, it's way too loud to turn the radio full blast and way too quiet to listen to the CD player function with the volume all the way up. Anyone else experience this problem with the factory stereo in a second gen 4runner?

That sounds weird. I would think if it's amp related, neither would get you any volume. I'd say try cleaning the laser lens 1st and if that doesn't help, I'd say the lens is gone.

Each factory rear speaker has it own amp.
This problem usually happens when upgrading the HU and not connecting the proper antenna/amp trigger lead from the new HU.
Has anything been changed from factory?
i.e. speakers, stereo or antenna.
Search "Rear Speakers"

Hmmm.. The CD would sound to me like a preamp if it didn't have a amp feeding, yes, that would sound correct. It's like the amp is dead in the CD player but not the radio as the amp in the radio still works fine. It's odd why a CD player would have a seperate amp from the radio.
No, it's all factory as far as I can tell. I will have to tear it apart on the inside later to find out for sure.

Can you be a bit more specific, because when i searched this a while ago, even after looking through FAQ's and the search results, I couldn't find the info. I finally just pulled my sub box out. Where are the amps located? Within the rear enclosures, and which way's best to wire the sub/amp output wire?
Also, what's the cure for getting enough power, even while connecting the amp with a 1ga through a fuse to the battery, without having all your electrical drop voltage? (IE: Fans, lights, etc.)
*And yes, i even looked in the electrical forums posts.

The cure for that would be a big beefy alternator like 200 amp or better

Yeah, I know about the MR2 or Chevy Alt swap, but there is enough there already, I believe actualy swapping to better battery's the first step though, now, as far as bypassing the factory amp set-up...
