Got one work for ya... RICE
I said cut it off at the cat not reduce the system down to a cat, it sounds good dumping out of the cat... well its all a matter of opinion but it makes a big difference having that extra pipe on there

Bahaha, Bleeder, thats bad ass. After seeing my friend do that to his full size Dodge in high school, I've wanted to do that. But I moved to a city where they do emission testing

18" glasspack in the stock muffler location, 12" glasspack mounted backwards just before the tailpipe turns out from the frame. Hard to explain but the gp backwards changes the resonance quite a bit without sounding ricey. Did that on a Scirocco I used to own and it was throaty without rattle.

on my v6, straight pipe off the block into a cherry bomb, then a 90 degree tailpipe where stock exhaust routes...sounds pretty good, loud and also throaty at lower rpms

And if you just have visual inspections (if that) in your state you could hollow it out. Another option would be to get a shop to make a straight pipe that bolts in so when you have to get it inspected you could put your cat back on.

^^Def don't just hollow out the cat. My cousin did that on his pathfinder and it messes up the system, puts in too much pack pressure. When the exhaust reaches the hollowed cat it creates a ballooning effect because the cat is larger than the pipe and then extra pressure when all the gathered air tries to exit through the other side of the cat. Sorry for the science. lol. I'm just running the stock cat and pipes and a flowmaster 40. I love the low rumble around 2100-2300rpm. She growls lol.

Don't hollow out your cat, it sounds like crap, too much echo. I did it when mine stopped up. If you test pipe the cat it probably would sound pretty good. If you want a bargain go for the dynomax at Jegs. $99 for the cat back and a $75 rebate. Can't beat a $25 exhaust system...part # 289-17418
