Question Loss of power in 4runner.

I have a 94 4runner 3.0 4 wheel drive that is running bad. We bought two. The good one had a bad motor that appears to have been from a 90-91 model and a wrecked one, 94, with good motor.

We put on a new timing belt and seems to be in time. Ran good but started getting weak after awhile. Now it runs terrible and has no power. Drinking gas like a sponge on water.

Blew the return water hose. Had issues with the oil cooler on the drivers side lower part of the block when we first started the engine. Clogged. Seems that it has another issue with clogging, hence the hose.

We remove the MAF from the wrecked truck and replaced it. Not sure if that helped or not. We also replaced the hose going from the engine to the MAF. That seemed to help a little bit, but still didn't solve the problem. Plugs look fine, oil looks good. Loosing water at a slow rate, just sitting. It does great up to about 45, then it feels like I'm trying to pull my house down the road. I go 0 to 60 in 5.3.... MINUTES!

PLEASE HELP!!!

i would double check the timing, as far as the leak of water, maybe the water pump? had small water leak and it turned out to be the water pump going out, did the timing again while we were in there due to the runner feeling weak, and low and behold it just needed timing again...hope this helps a little!

Thanks, we're rechecking that tonight. I'll post the results on it hopefully tonight or in the morning.

We didn't get around to checking the timing last night, but still planning on doing it.

Would the o2 sensor trigger a code? Also how would I check it without replacing it?

Thanks!
