Of course you'd then need a modified bonnet or a BL to clear the motor, but it could be done.

3vze eh?

Twin turbo would be sweet. I was considering something like that myself. These are what I would suggest: Pick up a pair of the stock 300zx turbos. They're sized right between T2's and T25s. Wastegates set for 7psi. Should net 150-160whp on an auto 3vze without overstressing the motor or creating too much unnecessary heat, maybe more.
Anything larger than that will be laggy and probably create a bit of a strain on the motor.

In the words of the Opera guy in Scrubs:

"Miiiiiiiiiiiiiiissssssssssssstttttttttaaaaaaaaaaa kkkkkkkkkkkeeeeeeeeeee!!!"

It's really a much better idea to save up for a 5VZ-E swap, or perhaps even a Supra motor since it's a sweet street truck. Polishing the turd just won't get you anywhere useful, and by the time you've done it you'll probably want a new engine anyway.

i got the engine for free so im not gonna complain but im gonna try to do somthing no one has ever done before. its gonna be fun and its gonna be a lot of work but the headgasket should not be a problem cuz im gettin new cams, o/s vavles, n new headbolt. so in theory should cure the headgasket problem n if it work it works it if doesnt then time to drop in a 2jz motor!

i would not be worried with the head gasket as much as i would be worried with tuning the motor...that is the biggest problem that i have seen...

I personally would look into the 1uzfe and turbo it....a nice v8 rumble and still yota that is what i want to do

the 1uz alone would be fine, adding a turbo to it would be unnecessary.

Realistically, you can argue that a swap would be better in the long run, but utilizing the 3vze is more cost effective (read:cheaper). A kit alone to swap to the 3.4 is $2k, not including the motor, other various transmission and 4wd crap necessary, etc.

I'm a firm believer in using whatcha got. My first heavily modded vehicle was a red-headed stepchild 1.8L Sentra. I was the first to successfully turbo it on this continent. It wasn't a power behemoth, but I was able to do it so that it was cost effective, and it was very fun. Rare, too.

Tuning? Apex'i SAFC can be used. It's super mega basic.....and use a wideband o2 sensor obviously.

Borrow a puller at autozone. That's the best thing about the walmart of auto parts, the tool loan program they have. I think others do it too, Advance etc. I wouldn't worry about the timing if you have access to a compression gauge, just put the #1 cylinder back on the compression stroke & wire it back up. Once you have it all back together it will be at 0 t.d.c. as long as you keep all the timing marks aligned when you pop the timing belt back on it's simple.

Timing marks on cam gears aligned - Crank pulley mark aligned @ 0 with the #1 cylinder @ t.d.c. Just be sure you put the plug wires back on in the correct firing order.

this is what i did to my 87. http://toyota2wd.proboards2.com/inde...ead=1138066316 Honestly i dont see a TT 3.0 doing anything but blowing more headgaskets. I had one in my 87 before i put in the 3.4 and it was slooooooow! In actuallity doing a 3.4 swap on a truck that already has a 3.0 in it is super easy. motormounts, oil pan, oil pickup tube are direct bolt ons. I had a mufler shop build me a crossover pipe for 60 bucks, added in another O2 sensor for another 40 bucks and had my friend wire it up for me for 300 bucks. and best of all it is RELIABLE! I have a feeling a TT 3.0 would not be very reliable, not trying to diss on your project, it sounds cool, but not practical and i think you would be working on it all the time after its done

well here are a couple of designs i came up with to suit my needs, i no theres alot of things missing. its just a rough draft. I also had a question do i need to include the egr valve or reed valve? by excluding them would that doing anything to the motor besides the emissions?
