How much trouble is it installing non-Toyota seats? Not sure if I want to drill holes in the floor. I'm going to be replacing my benchseat with buckets, and have been shopping around for aftermarket seats that bolt in to the stock floor mounts. They are expensive though.
I paid $150 to re-upholster them and it was a great decision! You can have them add in more padding or even customize additional padding in areas you need.
They look great, are very comfortable and have plenty of adjust-ability.

Where'd you have this done? I LOVE the sr5 seats but as per usual my drivers is TRASHED.
I've been planning to swap the bench for some buckets in my '88 single cab for a long time, but I wanted to stick with Toyota stock. Pulled these out of a '94 4Runner a couple of weeks ago. Paid a whopping $30 for the pair. http://tinyurl.com/mudvlkt
Update: Pulled my bench out this evening and test fit the driver bucket seat. Mounting brackets lined up perfect with the existing threaded holes. Bolted right in and went for a cruise and I'm very pleased with the ride difference. Passenger seat took a little "persuasion" to line up with all four holes. I hand tightened the back and then front inside bolts, then the back outside with a little pulling on the seat frame at the same time, and then the front outside with quite a bit more pulling on the frame. The seat does still slide forward and back, but I can tell the rail is strained a little because it's not a smooth slide like the driver seat. Oh and I reused the safety restraints from the bench and the two longer innermost back bolts.
Originally I thought about getting the seats professionally reupholstered, but decided on using black Gorilla duct tape and slip covers as this isn't my DD. The covers I decided on are Cabela's Trail Gear and they fit pretty well, especially since the backrest portion can be cinched to fit using the drawstring shoelace-like rigging on each side. There's also lots of pockets on the back for storage. I found mine on eBay, so another bargain.
Seriously thinking about getting these seats from a Mercedes, they match the brown interior almost perfect, and they have a built in armrest on the driverside. Not to mention way more comfortable than my Subaru outback seats. Only $20 each
I just picked up some brand new still in the box aftermarket Mustang bucket seats really cheap on Craigslist, they look like Recaros. I ordered some Toyota seat brackets from Summit Racing, will post a photo after I get them installed. Couldn't pass up the bargain price.
Bringing this thread back from the dead! I finally bought some nice grey leather buckets off craigslist for $120 to put in my 87' 4runner. The guy I bought them from wasn't sure what they were out of. After I got them home I found a bar code sticker that said 2006 Honda, but not the vehicle model. I tried looking up the part # with no luck. A quick search on the web, and I found an identical match, looks like they came in a CRV. They had side airbags, which I removed, the drivers seat has a handle for seat height adjustment, and they have swivel down arm rest. Anyway, just thought I'd add an update since I started this thread, lol. Thanks guys for all the pics and ideas!
These weren't a direct bolt in. Here's what I did. First I removed this tall 2" bracket that added additional height to the seat that I didn't need. Here's a pic of the seats after removing the 2" tall bracket from the drivers seat, you can see how much lower it sits.
This is the one of the 2 brackets I removed from the new driver seat
Then I cut off and drilled out the rivets and removed the original floor mounting tabs from my original seat slider/tracks. After removing them from the original seats, I re-bolted them to the floor and welded some 1-1/2" wide by 1/8" thick flat bar stock to the seat tabs and made a new seat frame for the new seats to bolt down to. By doing it this way I was able to get the new seat centered, and still keep it low to the floor like the original setup. Here's some pics of the modified original seat mounting tabs welded to my home brewed bracket.
And here's some pics of the seat installed, still need to build a bracket and install the passenger seat.
I also bought a rear split bench seat from the same guy out of a dodge durango for $85. The color match is pretty close to my front buckets.
I will update this when I get the rear seats mounted. In the meantime I'm in the process of doing a color change to get the rest of the interior grey to match. Oh, I forgot to mention, I drove the 4runner to work yesterday, and the new seat is way comfortable, 100 times better than before!
