locking hubs, lost a piece!!

well i was rebuilding my hubs and i lost the little ball in the gravel..its forever gone.3 magnets combing the area, and i cant find it.

what could i use as a substitue? bbs are to big. toyota dealer said they cant order that piece, id have to pay for the hole assembly...even though i just picked up new gaskets/orings from them...

Couldn't you take your other hub apart and take the bearing to a parts store or a hardware store and find one thats the same size. I don't think it would matter if it wasn't made by toyota.

i did the same thing.
went to napa, had them get me a few drawers of bearings. looked at the unsheiled type( where you can see the balls on one side)

after i looked at the second one, i bought it for a few bucks.

after dismantling the bearing, it worked.

that was years ago, if i had the extra bearings, id send ya one, and if i had the part number id give you that too
