Linked fuel line

Will a kinked fuel line cause a fuel pump to go bad in a 1998 Toyota forerunner 4x4?

Red face

Quite possible Without seeing the kink in person who can say.

Pressure side or return side??

It might be more of a case the line is so restricted your not getting fuel

The volume getting past the restriction could be so low the engine just stalls.

Just how did you figure the pump had failed .

Mileage on the pump ?? Might have played a part in the failure.

Sure, just about anything COULD cause a pump to fail. But why would you care? Are you failing one pump after another and trying to find the root cause?

First, you need to know if the pump has failed or not. If it has failed (and you know it's the pump, not the wiring, the COR, the VAF, ...), then you've got to replace it.

I would guess that a kink severe enough to accelerate wear on a fuel pump will stop your engine long before it hurts the pump.

Exclamation

Thinking some more .

First these pumps are not made to dead head.

As long as the pump is powered fuel circulates through the fuel rail or rails .

A major restriction in the fuel line will stall the engine at which time most people will turn the ignition switch off .

If for some reason the key is left in the run position Would the pump burn up that is one of those Maybe answers for sure .

It would depend on the restriction and pump and the age .

I am curious to hear more about this
