Lifting 92 4runner...need tips!

Hey...Im new to this so hopefully i did this right lol. Im sure this has been posted many times so i am sorry. I have a 1992 4runner 5 speed manual. Stock it has 31x10.5 tires and i am looking to get 33's or possibly 32's. I Am thinking about a 3inch body Lift and 33's but idk how they will fit and if i will have to re-gear it or not. I dont really have enough money to put a 4inch suspension lift on it unless i went with tuff country but then i couldnt re-gear it. If you all have any tips or ideas it would be greatlly appreciated.

You don't need a 4" lift. Actually, they aren't the most highly regarded any more. They tend to shift/bend on the trail and you need new rims with them. If the 33X10.5's were available you could throw them on with no lift/trimming at all. 33's fit with the body lift you mentioned or a combination of fender trimming (minor) and shorter body lift.

You do want to regear. 32's, 4.56's are find, 33's 4.88s.

I threw a post up a bit so search on my screen name and you can see what I did to fit my 33's. I'll install a 1" body lift soon to help out but I'm pretty much there with just clearancing.

I ran a 3" body lift and 33x12.50" tires for awhile. I thought it looked pretty good. I had rubbing issues due to the aftermarket rims I am running. If you stuck with a stock (type) rim you could easily run a wide 33" tire with that amount of lift.

Just do 33x10.50 on the stock rims, and put all the $$$ you were gonna spend towards regearing and lockers (if you take the truck offroad)

150 bucks for a body lift won't get you much in terms of regearing/lockers.

But I do agree you should re-gear. You should be able to find a set of factory 4.88 diffs for pretty cheap.

Will get you a lunchbox locker for the rear ... and that will make WAY more difference than the wider tires.
