and you've had them in for a while now too, haven't you? Did you get different color lights for the different indicators? Green for turns, blue for high beams, red for break, etc?

I have had them for over a year now

Blue leds for everything I mentioned

The turn signals are too bright, there I would use a regular bulb, or something less powerfull than the WLED x5. Once you open the cluster and look at the green plate around the turn signals that you have to remove (or it will tint your lights green, stock turn signal bulbs have no condoms) you will understand.

The only ones I would not do again, is the hi-beam indicator (came out too bright!!) and the brake light. Only reason for the brake light is the blue bulb is alot dimmer in that area. If I ever have the cluster out I will change it out, but its not a big deal.

I got tired of the DIM/OFF/FLICKER settings on my dome light. The metal contacts in the switch are the cause of the problems, they wear out over time and nothing I have tried has fixed it. Even purchased a couple of boneyard ones, they all were problematic.

Grabbed an 8 LED array out of the pep boys "Ricer" part section and a 3 way toggle switch. Took one of my spare light housings and gutted it, dremeled out the center to fit the switch and the LED array in, soldered wires onto the door and on ground contacts and the power lead.

Now I have a nice, bright dome light that works perfect. No more digging out my flashlight to find stuff inside my truck.

The only downside is that it is really, really bright. I might add a small red or amber light somewhere in the truck for those times I am driving and need to see something without screwing up my night vision.

If I remember to, I will snap some pics of it for you guys.

I got the standard WLED x5, non HP. Hopefully that won't be too bright.

LEDs come tomorrow. Will probably start this project in a few days though, I have other wiring issues to attend to, and another coat of paint.

Interesting idea.

I'm not sure I like the green dash lights. It's just too bright for me.

I like the look of the climate control lights, though. But they seem obnoxiously bright. I can't see well at night, and bright lights in my eyes wouldn't help.

I'm not trying to criticize. Just my opinion. I think it looks good, though.

Also, I like the idea of LED dome lights, and replacing the red marker lights in the doors. If I keep my doors open for too long, it drains the battery.

Anyone done this?

If so, how bright is it?

I've been MIA from the forums for a while, sorry for that! Had to catch up on life for a bit.

I've installed the dome lights and a few of the interior lights but haven't done the justice of a good write-up yet. So, be patient. And I think it looks pretty damn good. The dome light has made a huge difference, it's WAY brighter. Not too bright though. I'll take some pics. It's also a good thing that I got the 3-way LEDS, because the light is distributed quite well.

Will folluw up later...

I did my dome light and cluster like, three years ago. Never had a problem with any of them. Mine are red. I think I posted some crappy pics somewhere...

Glad to hear you like the dome and license conversion! I hope I will. And I don't have pics yet, but the LEDs should be arriving early next week.
This is a late comment, but for what it's worth, you can probably swap speedo mechanisms between the SR5 and non-SR5 cluster. I used to do that on Supras, celicas and corollas all the time to keep the mileage accurate when changing clusters for repairs or lighting mods.

New here but while we're on the topic of LEDs...

you guys seem to complain or worry that they'll be too bright...my truck has the dimmer switch/dial. Does the dimmer not work as well when using LED's? Thus becoming an issue?

thanks

Yes you can, just not with the crappy dimmers that Toyota put in these trucks. I have the dash in my MKIII Supra all done with LED's, exactly the same as my truck. They dim down exactly like the stock bulbs do. The stock dimmer in my Supra is way smoother/better quality than the ones in these trucks.

I think the 4runner dimmers are better than ours, but that's just by feeling it- I never actually tested them.

Is there a kind of LED you can or are all LED's like that? or do you have to just stick with a red 194 bulb if you want the dimmer to work?

-edit i guess i was too late lol

My LEDS dim almost 80% then they just turn off. They still dim.
