where can i buy rear leaf springs for my 88 4runner? mine are straight and flat. i want a little bit of lift out of them also.

 

I've got Downey on my runner, have had them almost 2 years and havent began to sag any yet. If you only want a little lift just change to longer shackles.

 

what all would i need for a three inch lift?

 

seeing that you have to replace them anyways, why not do a swap to 63" chevy springs? The swap give about 1.5" of lift, and better articulation.

Not quite a straight swap in, you need to weld on a new front hanger, but not that bad if you've got some skills, or a buddy with a welder.

I've also heard about being about to swap in jeep springs (insert wise crack here)

I also went with the Downey springs. I got their 3" lift springs and realized about a 2" lift after settling. Someone mentioned that may be due to a 4 runner being heavier in the rear than a truck and that the rating might be based on a truck. Don't know about that, I just know that I got 2" out of them and have been happy with them. I recall them being a bit more expensive than the ones linked by InternetRoadkill above, but did come with new bushings. About $185 IIRC.

 

I have downeys. The 3 inch. If i did it over again, i'd go with Alcan's. The downeys are decent, and the price is right, but they do sag a bit. A longer shackle in addition to the downeys will work well.

I wouldn't worry about articulation. Articulation doesn't do you much good in the rear, when the front has almost none. Whatever springs you get, you are going to have more than enough for the front, and doing a chevy swap is going to be more work. If you are prepared for it, go for it.

Downeys are fine, these other places are fine. Pick something, and try it. Either way they'll last you a few years, and you can evaluate what you want to change about them as you go.

 

So these are $151 for a single leaf or pair? If it's a single then the Downey ones are cheaper.
