LCE Header/Starter
#1
Hello All, just checking to see if anyone has knowledge about my issue. 1988 4 Runner all original clean truck 3VZE I added LC Engineering Headers a while back and have not regretted it I like the way the truck sounds system has held up well it’s ..a good set of pipes. Only problem is I am starting to develop some starter issues. Clicks every so often becoming more frequent. So, I must tackle that starter I thought for sure the bugger of a header would need to come off first I have heard people complain about a straight forward starter change with no header on the truck. But LCE Tech support people are telling me the starter can come OFF the truck without removing the header first Does anyone have knowledge about this? It’s so tight in there I don’t see how but I am a very novice mechanic, Thank you for your help

I would also check for postings here regarding starter relays - particularly those that RAD4runner has responded to. See if the incorrectly wired or missing starter relay issue is possibly your situation.
Also whenever I've had headers running close to the starter I bought or fab'ed a shield.

Sorry I guess I did not explain this correctly. The starter on my 3VZE on my 88 4Runner is BAD it must come out LC Engineering Tech support tells me the starter can be removed without removing the header first. That looks almost impossible to me. Has anyone completed this task Thank you….
