mine is a 95 4runner, newly rebuilt 3.0 / auto.
i get code #52. knock sensor code. engine loses power. cel comes on.
does anyone know where to get a new pigtail?
also, how about the pigtails connections?
one wire(black, blueshield) goes to the knock sensor, the other wire(brown) is taped to the shielded sensor wire.

the other is the ground, the ground is actually the sensor itself, being as it screws into the block.... as for the pigtail, just go to toyota, I think I paid $14 from my local dealer.

The dealer sells the pigtail, just give them a call.

It is a bear to replace, given that it is under the intake manifold. When it was rebuilt, did the knock sensor get replaced? Most likely not, as if someone did the sensor they would have known to do the pigtail.

Good luck

Did you happen to have the distributor out during the rebuild?

My brother had code 52 problems with his 90 4Runner with the 3.0. We did an engine rebuild, put everything back together and it had NO power. It was throwing the 52 code so he replaced the pigtail, still nothing... Ended up being that the distributor was off by a tooth so the timing was way off.. Moral of the story, check your timing.. After we fixed up the timing it ran perfect.

WOW man, you just saved my ass big time. I had code 52 after I just redid some hgs on an 88 runner i got, i replaced the wire with a factory toyota one. Was about to tear off intake and spend the 200 bucks on a new sensor, we thought the timing was right, but I just went out and retarded it, and no more code 52, and it runs better, so like you said, its a tooth off. Thanks man.

Do you have a part number for the pigtail. My dealer told me I would have to buy the entire harness. I do not like the dealers. Thanks.

That part number applies to all 4Runners from 1992 on, I believe.

Awesome. Thanks betelnut. I no longer use the dealer I spoke of. I am more than willing to drive 45 minutes rather than 15 to get quality service.

You can order from toyotapartsoutlet.com right now. Probably 1/2 the price of your parts counter, and only $5 shipping for the rest of the month.

Where does the knock sensor connect on the truck side? Previous owner bypassed the sensor but we replaced it, where does it lead to on the truck side? Not the side under the manifold.
