Knock Sensor

The last few days my truck hasnt been running to well... i pulled the codes today and i got 5,2 which says my knock sensor either has a short or is broken. In my little repair manual i can not find the knock sensor. So i guess what im asking is, where is the sensor? and if its bad how can in tell? and is it expensive?

thanks

Clint

Search: I know the info is here and on pirate.. :-)

Hint: passenger side of the block.. There's an oil filter, a on pressure switch / gauge sender, and a knock sensor... :-)

4 or 6? on the 22re(4) its just behind the oil filter not the one below it that would be your oil pressure sending unit. and ya there expensive.

And rarely go bad... The wire should be suspect first. Check continuity between the pin at the ECU connector and the connector at the KS.

Not to hijack....really. But, I thought the KS was in the middle of the intake manifold under the fuel rail. Obviously, it's not the knock sensor, though. What is it? Mine (whatever sensor it is) has a blue, single wire connector.

Really? You still can't find it? As they explained, it is on the side of engine block....passenger side. Look a little ways up and over to the left of the oil filter.....up and right from the fuel filter. There should be a little sensor sticking out from the side....single wire. It's fairly hard to miss as there isn't much on that side of the block. I have pics, but aren't downloaded from camera yet. Otherwise, I'd just show you.

The knock sensor is right of the fuel filter and left and up from the oil filter. it is very hard to see, my truck has done the same thing recently. I replaced the wire but no luck, and unfortunately ther $167 @ rockauto.com,

Curious to see what you find, let me know, I am still struggling with mine. GOOD LUCK!!
