knock knock

hey everybody, new to the site and forums in general. was hoping somebody could help. i'm driving a 1989 v6 pickup. I have recently swapped the engine with a 92 due to the fact i beat the old one to death. 425,000kms. everything was smooth except the tps on the throttle body had a different connetor than the 89. the real problem i have is a knock sensor code. as i understand it when the knock sensor is tripped the timing retards. i do have a loss of power at the top end like it just can't peak, its quite noticible in 2nd and 3rd. i have replaced the sensor with a new used one but still get the code. if i had a knock would i not notice it? been driving it for almost a year like this and need to fix it. any help u could give me would be awsome.

22re had a braided "sheilding" ground wire around the knk sensor wire that HAD to be grounded, I realize that you have the 3.0 so this may not apply
but its something to think about. Good luck, and SEARCH!

Welcome to YotaTech, did you change out the ECU from the donor engine. That could be the cause, i'm not 100 percent sure, but someone here will chime in.

It Is A Sheilded Wire. Can I Just Run A Ground Wire To The Firewall Maybe? I Have Heard This Before About Sheilded Wires. It Is The Stock Umbilical So Maybe The Sheiding Broke When I Manipulated The Block Into Place.

Could be, try some alligator clips to the sheild wire framis to a good ground
firewall, frame etc and take er for a spin. Toy wiring imho is pretty fragile.
But thats what happens when you have over 300,000 miles on the wiring.
