Katie, I though you & the crew would enjoy this one:
A gynecologist tired of the job and tired of paying malpractice insurance decided to be a mechanic, he went through the ASE certification Course. the next week was the practical exam where they had to disassemble an engine and place it back together with no problems... he went though this with some difficulty but thought he would at least pass. A few days later he gets a letter in the mail saying he passed with a 150% average. Confused he calls the professor and asks what?s up.. The professor responds, you took apart the motor with no problem that was 50% you put it back together with no help and correctly. That was the other 50%. Confused the man asked where the other 50% came from.. The professor says...well... the other 50% was given. Because you did it through the muffler...

UPDATE - Waiting on parts from Toyota to come in and waiting on the big brown truck to bring a present from EB. I still need to do some cleaning in the engine bay and I think I am going to lay some Dynamat(have some extra laying around) on the firewall/trans tunnel to help with the added heat.
HOUSE FIRE -
We went to work at about 7 a.m. and had the dogs in their run outside, we came home around 5:30 p.m. to a long line of traffic in front of the house when I realized that the flashing lights were in front on my house. So, I parked about a mile down the street and walked until the house came in view(was thinking there was a bad car accident near my house). FYI we live on a long, narrow 2 lane with a runoff ditch on either side of the road, so accidents happen. So... when I got around the corner I could see the flames coming out the roof of my house - long story shorter, It took them until about 1130 pm to get the fire out(no fire hydrants in the country)... Basically once I finally got to talk to the Fire Detective, they said that they could not determine a source for the fire, but they blamed it on some old, faulty, wiring boxes under the house(we have a 3 foot crawl space, and the house was built in the 30's)... the inside of the house and a lot of the 4x16 support beams in the subfloor were blazed.... The insurance decided to jack the house up, replace the subfloor, and redo the inside of the house. So, they say we should be back in the house by the first of May. Our cat was in the house, and we couldnt find her until the next morning when we went back she was sitting on the bed... She was hospitalized for about a week getting oxygen treatments and she didn't show any improvement there so they sent her home fearing the worst. She is still with us but it seems like she was a bad case of emphazema. Everything in the house was totaled, but we were able to save the family heirloom stuff that was under our bed in rubbermaid totes... Thank god... Other than that, the rest got dumped....
95Toyota - The truck is from the UP in Michigan, I think thats where the issues came from.

Wow; hard to believe it was cheaper to do all that than to just tear it down & start over. Glad they came to your rescue, though. That must have been tough, but sounds like your were pretty darned lucky overall.

Sounds like it was a bad scene... Make sure they do a good job drying out and treating the parts of the house they don't replace with all that water from fighting the fire you could end up with some serious mold issues...
Sounds like your cat got a serious case of smoke inhilation, probably won't get much better either, just like with humans try to keep the atmosphere in the house at a balanced level not too damp not too dry and keep kitty out of drafts and she/he should be fine...
how did the dogs do? hope they were'nt too freaked out either...
good to hear your being taken care off...

fires suck! I lost all my pets to the one we had in 85....
They all survived the actual fire, but 2 of the 4 cats died from smoke inhalation and both dogs were ok, but none survived the ensuing lung cancer that came within 1 or 2 years.
Make kitty as comfy as you can, as much as I hate to say it, enjoy what little time you have left with her if you can.

Thanks for all the support guys, and yes they tore out most all of the drywall and dryed the remaining structure.... we can only hope for the best with the kitty... and the house will be pretty much brand new...

I had a friend at work who had a similar fire over a year ago that basically smoke damaged everything in the house. He just got moved back in about 3 weeks ago. In the interim, he was diagnosed with probably terminal colon cancer.

Well, the toyota parts pictured were 220 shipped and the parts from Ted at ENGNBLDR.com are from his master engine kit. The kit is 388+24 for shipping.... I already had some of the kit as I was planning a HG job, so he made me a deal. Great guy to work with....
I also, forgot to order the tensioners AGAIN lol
And the water bypass thing was an unintentional order on my part, but i will put it on anyways.
I will drop the pistons at the machine shop tomorrow and maybe be able to have them back tomorrow night. If so, I will assemble the long block this weekend

I was wondering that, too. Looks like that moly-tungsten stuff the hot rodders are using on their pistons skirts and wrist pins and stuff, but it's on the wrong side of the rings for that.

That is all stuff from Ted, To be honest I don't know what the coating is. "Rock" is the brand that Ted sells. Its a USA Made company. When you here of Ted's Rock Gasket kit -- Thats it - Just the brand. those are brass freeze plugs for the block.
Bumpin - Yep, I have them. I followed your thread quite closely as well
