irab88's battery/intake swap

this thing?

yeah, it's the "silencer" for it. the noise without it really annoying. you don't need it, but you do need to keep a filtered air opening on the line (before or after the "silencer"). it's technical name is "resonater", but that's the exact opposite of what it does.
though, if it's a non-smog vehicle, ie a trail only rig, there are kits to remove all that stuff anyway.

ah, thank you that helps alot, i figure ill try to make one. What configuration of silicone bends did you end up using? Did you notice your idle drop at all after this? I just replaced the stock air box and afm with a cressida afm (swapped the circuit boards) and generic pod filter in the stock location on the driver side. now it seems like its idling a little low making the whole truck shake quite a bit. Thanks in advance! your thread has been very helpful.

make sure you don't have any vacuum leaks, and that the afm circuit tests correctly (acording to the fsm). then, iff those test out good, adjust the idle screw to get a good, smooth idle.
i do not know what your engine bay looks like. there are many different variations of air-conditioning configurations, throttle body angles, and accessories that will determine what shape of intake you have. go ahead and post up a pic of the area where you want to route the intake.

I have an 87 truck with a 84 model 22R engine, right now in the process of doing a 22RE swap into it from an 87 donor truck. You said that a newer model RE intake had better airflow was wondering if it would fit an 84 model 22R head? Also what year intake would be the best to use? This is a great thread you guys have amazing pictures with it and a lot of intel on it.
