Introduction and AFM/idle question
First off just wanted to say hi as I'm a new owner of a '91 4runner 22re.
I just read up about the 2 screws on the AFM after taking them off and ever so slightly pulling the sensor out. I stopped before it completely came out and just pushed it back in and screwed it on. I just wanted to know...
If anything did come loose, would the truck run at all? Right now the truck is running, but I'm having intermittent low idle issues. I read up and found that it could be caused by a many number of things, but wanted to know if there was anything loose in the AFM could it cause that.

You may not have damaged anything, but I can't see it from here so I can't say...lol. BUT, you can test it to rule it out as a possibility.

(This thread talks about the two screws, too.)
If it tests okay, then look at your throttle position sensor (good thing to check, anyway) or for any possible vacuum leaks. It would also help to know if the poor idle is related to the motor temperature.

I've noticed that the idle normally drops to ~500 when it is restarted after being brought to temp.
Ex.: I drive 30min, go into a store, come back out and it idles at ~500 for about 5mins or so.
I can still drive, and normally it just kinda goes away. I just wasn't sure if it could be related to the AFM or other stuff. I've noticed I have a bunch of little things that seems to be common after reading a bunch of threads. Like oil in the intake, low idle, etc...
I'll go check the TPS when I get a chance.
