intermittent heater/blower fan?

I have an intermittent interior heater fan. Im aware of the problems that typically plague the switch ie the more resistant lower fan speed settings burn out. My top 3 speeds work but the fan will go on and off randomly and without pattern or any obvious reason. Like hitting a bump or smacking the dash doesn't effect it.

Getting inside the dash is a pain so Im not jumping into it blind wondering if this sympton leads straight to a specific part?

maybe a blower motor resistor starting to go out and/or a loose fuse?

So I'll assume cursing at it hasn't worked either?

Changed anything electrical lately?

hahah that's funny, because it works for me alot of times. I usually tell her "quit your bitchin" and it's fine. For a while anyway.
