interchangable tranny ?

this guy i work with i give him a ride home sometimes...
his roommate has a 4runner that has a bad tranny
i believe it is a 94 or 95 with the v6 and 4x4
my dad has a 88 or 89 4runner at his bosses from with a hg prob but good tranny

my mom needs a new vehicle

both v6s and 4x4s so do you think the trannys would swap?

Sure, might even be the same. But, what ever bolts to one V6 of those years will bolt to another 3VZE(the V6 available then).

Check out how the speedometer works. I belive pre 92 was cable driven while 92 and up was electronic

Depends if it is '95. Halfway thru the year they started putting the 3.4 liter engine in the Runner/Tacoma.

If its manual, it shouldn't be any problem. If its auto, it may not work due to wiring/plug/electronic changes through the years.

The speeedo drive gear can be switched out from year to year, so just reuse whatever gear thats currently in it. btw, if its an actual 95, you wont have to change it since they reverted back to cable drive for 95. Only 92-94 4Runners were electronic drive speedos.
