installing twin stick (need help please)

im in the process of installing my fror twin sick, its on agnus, my 88 pickup, 3vz, chain driven t-case.

now to start off, my experiance with FROR sucked big time. now anyway, i have the tcase on the ground, the "plugs" out and the springs and balls out. the shifter is off and i have view and acess to the two shift rails, wich are currently still locked together.

the instructions that i DIDNT GET (had to have them emailed to me) from FROR, tell me to take the roll pin out of the left side shift rail (well first of all, be more specific about wich rail, and secondly, THERE IS NO ROLL PIN LIKE THE PICTURES SHOW (must be a different t-case))

so anyway, my question is, since theres no roll pin exposed locking the shift rails together, where is the pin that locks the rails together on the r150/151 t-cases?

and also, while im here, when i mate the transfer case back to the transmission, do i have to put a gasket on? looks like neither one leaked out of the mainseals, so it was pretty dry and clean. the p/o put that blue stuff on there, should i just use that?

thanks big time guys, i really appreciate all the help!!

and must i add, on the FROR instuctions the last step is to do all the steps oppisite of what i just did...wich means it would be exactly the same as before i even started...

and they didnt even say what the actuall "goal" was, they just said do this this and this...and then do that in reverse...

You sure you got the right product for your tcase? The shift rail pin is pretty easy to see regardless of the tcase you are installing a twin stick on. It's right there holding the shift rails together.

If you can't figure it out take some pics.

wabbit, heres what im working with.

this is a view from "underneath the shifter" with the shift plate removed. the shift rods look solid, and there doesnt seem to be pins in them.

from what ive read, and seen in pics, the pins should be about right here.

just a few other pics of the t-case, maybe it will come in handy

Are you sure you have the proper directions from FROR and not looking at 4 cyl tcase installation instructions?

The pins you are highlighting with the red dots are on 4 cyl cases.

i beleive it is the instructions for the 4cyl, thats why im not finding anything. so my question is, where is the interlock pin located on the v6 tcase, to seperate the shift rails?

Looks like you're going to have to take off that front cover. Go to page 3/9

installed twin stick...yet another problem

i have finally gotten the modifcations done to my transfer case (it was pretty confusing considering fror failed to send me instructions, and then when i emailed them, they gave my the wrong ones) its the r151? transfer case for the 3.0 v6

last night i put the transfer case back in, bolted everything up etc. etc. so far what i havnt done was torqued all the bolts PRECISLY (they are off by probably -10ft.lbs) and i didnt put the front driveshaft back on.

now the problem i am experancing is the sticks "bind" up when i try to shift into low, and when i shift into 4x4, the hi/lo stick comes back with the 4x4 and is stuck in hi, untill i go back to 2wd.

i thought maybe they were doing this because i didnt tighten the shifters all the way tight on the base, and figured maybe it was at a bad angle or something, but even after i tightened everything like the directions said too, im still having the same problem.

after i got the interlock pin out of my transfer case, i put a screwdriver in the shift rails, and checked and both of them shifted independantly, and then i tested again after i got the transfer case back in, then i installed the twin stick kit and had a problem. so today i took the truck around the block, removed the shifter, and drove around while shifting the transfer case with a screwdriver. everything in the transfer case works like it should, i shifted 2wd high and low and 4x4 high and low and the rails moved good and stayed in gear. after i put the twin sticks back on i had the same problem, the only gears i could hit were 2wd neutral, and 4x4 high.

dont know whats wrong here, im thinking maybe theres a design flaw in the twin sticks? or one of them was machined improperly? and i was also thinking maybe its this little "nub" messing with things (see pic below)

i was thinking maybe to cut it out, but i dont know...i never recived the right directions, or any directions from fror

thanks guys!!
