installing tailgate window, channels? 90 runner

Can anyone help? I've installed new channels(the old were rotted gone) with the rubber pieces in the rear window assembly. Now I'm having huge problems sliding the window back into the rubber in the channels. Is there a trick to this fix? Thanks

i remember that being somewhat of a hassle. If i recall correctly, i put the rubber on the windows first, put grease on the rubber, and then slid the guides over that. It took quite a bit of force to get it on there completely.

ninja edit: I also opened up the guides a bit with a pair of pliers and bent them back together once they were on.
