Installing new radiator, help please..

Ordered the Heavy Duty radiator from radiatorbarn, can someone please tell me what is supposed to connect to the small outlets on either side of the radiator..My old radiator doesn't have these, thanks!

haha, nevermind, should have read their web site first;


Q: I received the radiator and it looks like the wrong one – it has two extra ports” or holes in it that I don’t need – what do I do?

A: You received the correct radiator. These extra holes are for either the automatic transmission oil cooler or the engine oil cooler, and are there for your use only if you need them. It will not affect cooling performance, and you can simply ignore it. You don’t have to cap it off or anything – it acts as an independent unit and if nothing goes in, nothing will come out."

Those are for the automatic transmission lines, if you have an automatic. The auto tranny relies on ATF circulation through the radiator to help keep temps down.


Edit: Oh.....nevermind then!

I would run an ATF hose from one outlet to the other and hose clamp it in place. That way if the cooler inside the radiator ever ruptures you won't loose your coolant.

And yes they do sometimes rupture, I can post up 4 or 5 threads of guys on here that had them fail.
