What exactly are you replacing, and what "kit" are you using?

I need to replace just the part where the key goes in... The one I had was not for my truck so I am thinking about going to kragen or auto zone to get one there like 50 to 60 buck, just hoping that will fix the problem

You have two options then.

1. Turn the key to "Acc" the depress a small button on the bottom of the switch housing. This will allow the cylinder to slide out.

2. Failiing that option if the cylinder refuses to turn, you have to drill that pin out. Be VERY careful not the damage the aluminum housing.

You can also go to a wrecking yard and get a new ignition switch assy with housing for roughly the same cost.
