Installed the HELLA500s on the pickup..nothing fancy

Have 6 headlights laying around..2 KCs,2Hella500s and a set of hella knock offs. Decided today to mount the hellas on the bumper. Wasnt sure how I was gonna go about it, and I started thinking...ntop of the stock bumper, there are two bolts. They go through the bumper (down) and into the bumper bracket. I removed both of those bolts. The bolt on the HELLA bracket was slighlty to large. After some 2 second work with the drill...I got this.

Now the bolt that holds the hellas to the bumper, also acts as the bumper bolt. Looks prett damn good IMHO

Looks like the same lights I have. What did they run you.

Also, looks great. One of the fastest way to make a frount end come alive.

Dude..I agree. They changed the look of my front end, and I love it. Exactly what I needed. OO and how much did they run me? haha. $22.50!!! One of the "special" people at walmart marked them WAY wrong. Walmart had to honor the price though. It was a brand new kit, unopened with al the wires and switches. $22.50 aint bad haha. I went back to buy more, but it was the only one marked wrong I also go a few sets of these. they are IDENTICAL to the Hella 500s.

Havent had them lit up yet, but they were real cheap.

I got the cheapos at Walmart of Pepboys...Think they were like 19.99. If you look REAL close, you can tell the quality isnt as great as the hellas, but that is expected. Im sure they are gona work great. Plus, i go through foglights pretty fast. Rocks/trees and all that mess. I need to find some good heavy duty grills for my Hellas. That way I can run them on the street, but still have protection.

haha^^ I already thougth of that...they fit ;-) They are a tad looser than the covers that come with the knock offs, but the ones that come with the knockoffs are so darn hard to get off. The hella ones actually work better.

heres two more pictures for you guys....
First picture...On the left is the knockoff, on the right is the HELLA. You will see how similar they are. The knock offs dont say HELLA on the lens at the bottom and dont have the BLUE HELLA stick in the center.

Picture two is both knockoffs....one with the original cover, one with the hella cover.

yea, I was wondering to...It REAL simple to mount them there. All you have to do it take the stock bolts out and make the hole a TAD bigger. After that, you just use all the HELLA mounting hardware/bolts. Perfect spot on the bumper to.

I don't have anything against cheap knock-offs (run a set of pseudo-Daylighters on my ARB b/c of trail damage), but you can't really compare those 2 lights. They might be the same dimensions/wattage, but the lenses on the Hellas are designed in such a way that the light is dispersed in a deliberate pattern. The knock-offs have no refraction elements in the lens, so the beam is not going to be refined. The covers are designed to look similar so that the average consumer thinks they ARE similar. That being said, $23 for the 500s is a smokin' deal.

Here are the pictures...yes I SUCK at taking night pictures, and my camera made all the pictures real dark. ANyway...here goes.
Headlights only

highbeams

headlights and hellas

Im gonna go out and redirect them, as they are off a little. They are BRIGHT, my camera just cant capture that. May actually throw a higher watt bulb in them. Im in search now for better headlights....the ones I have are like candles

Tell you the truth I forget I got them a pretty long time ago. I think they are dirving ligths though. The beam is pretty straight and narrow. I think the fogs have a more wide beam

would you have to upgrade your wiring to accept the 100w bulbs?
