Were not trying to be mean. But its hard not too.

So lets say I start a thread "Engine doesn't start"

Later on I explain that I didn't turn the key in the ignition and bother trying to start it. Get it?

If not, you are a hopeless person and need some help

So if you DID turn the key, and a piston was knocking, you would drive the truck?

i guess i should ask, did it make the noise before you replaced the clutch? and if not. did you pull the exhuast out of the way? and if you did, did you replace the exhuast doughnuts on the flanges when you put it back together?

No exhaust changes, checked for leaks. This is an internal clutch problem, probably just try more adjustments in the freeplay, etc... If that doesn't do it, then I will pull it again...Ouch ! May be defective. DEFINITELY not going to drive it.. CLANG,CLANG,CLANG... DUUH.

So far this thread hurts my brain.

Did you resurface the flywheel and or did you remove/check the flywheel bolts? I completely 'tarded' out once when replacing an engine and forgot to torque down the flywheel bolts. I know, I know. Knock knock knock... I had been working since the am and it was 1am by the time I finished so I was dog tired. That's my excuse and it stinks. This may be a dumb question, but did you rev up the engine slightly to see if the ticking was louder or faster? I agree, it's hard to diagnose.

Peeps here are great for help, they just don't like to be lead down a path for no reason.

Hey DC,

I don't remember the clutch being adjustable. It's been some years since I did my last clutch. I remember it being hydraulic non-adjustable. Just picking your brain for 'next time'. (It's better than picking your nose!)

Why would it matter? It wouldn't change a thing if it was. Maybe less damage to the block? Either way, some type of action would have to be done.

Besides, your problem is NOT a rod knock. We can't help you unless we actually see the clutch. Do this first little test:

Stick your hands down your pants and tell me what you feel?

After you do that check, start taking off your transmission. Or would your rather just go for a quick drive???

Clutch pedal has an adjustment on it.

New flywheel, throw out bearing, pilot bearing, driven plate and pressure plate. (Dual friction). Hydraulic clutch, but has freeplay adjustment on the rod from Master cyl. and clutch pedal. Also adjusment on rod to throw out fork... Not much, but going to adjust them again, well... now. Wish me luck.

I say pull it and see what the frick is up. Also did you make sure the clutch plate was centered with an allignment tool? Or maybe the plate was installed backwards. Just pull it and see whats up. Also dont' know how your rear main seal looks but its a good time to check and replace it. Also the input shaft seal on the tranny.
