I pulled a 02' Ford F350 turbo diesel super duty crew cab with rather wide air'ed down tires out of a hole on the beach this past weekend...I was amused.

 

Haha, im 100% toyota. My 4runner takes the abuse i feed it and just keeps going. My 22R-E is still pushing my 35's without a rebuild. My only complaint is that they are built for tiny people haha, and stop with the ford bashing. my 79 f250 takes all in the mudd. Im pretty sure everyone has been towed however, unless of coarse you have a winch.

 

oh dude I love fords, If I was ever to buy a domestic truck ford would be my choice.

 

This domestic/import conflict gets kinda tiring after awhile.
It's true, they're more reliable than anything domestic. But they do have their flaws, anybody ever had a toyota that never leaked anything. You can go on and on about which is better. A buddy of mine bought a ranger that was maintained properly by a farmer. He bought it with 430k km with the original motor, then the tranny caved at 540k, it still looked presentable too.

It's ussually the close minded individuals that lack intelligence and well ...teeth that start this stuff. Your truck or whatever you want to call it will kick his ass, it's a fact. Just don't drop to his level. Unless he's a good buddy, I got a couple of those too and it never ends.

 

I have a buddy that is of the same Ford mind. He used to brag that his F-350 could out haul my Toyota, and could certainly keep up with me on the trails! I invited him many times to come along, but he wouldn't. So, I took him out wheeling at Reiter one time, and he was hooked! He is going to buy my 87 SAS Toyota when he gets back from deployment. Meanwhile, I am waiting for the engine/tranny swap and dual ultimate crawler install on my 94 SAS Toyota.

 

Well if it has 4x4 and lo range, sits a good distance off the ground, and you can put a good amount of stuff in it, it's a truck in my opinion. Your buddies truck is a truck and one hell of a truck but not an offroad truck. In fact if it's only a 1/2 ton it is a truck you use to help your friends move or pick up mulch from Home Depot, but still a good truck.

Chevy's and Toyotas are just made for different things, especially newer Chevy's. 95 Silverado, what does it sit an entire 10" -12" off the ground? Definitely not designed to go wheeling especially as wide as they are.

Not knocking Chevy's, I wish I had one for things that required more girth than my Toy. I also have a friend that sees nothing in the world worthy past his 89 Chevy z-71.

 

My friend tows me out with his stock(ish) suzuki vitara pretty often... So I'm not sure why anyone would brag about having the bigger truck - it only means you will be stuck more often.

 

People get a big head about what they drive, mainly because they
don't really know anything different.

Especially the guy whos driving his first ever 4WD. Everyone is amazed
when they can drive over logs and saplings and through puddles. That,
to them, is off roading, and since they can do it in their truck, they think
that its a great off roader.

I'm pretty spoiled. My 92 was the first 4wd I owned, so I got used to being
able to do things others couldn't.

I'm not trying to sound like the Ford and Chevy guys,
but the 80's and early 90's Toyota's are great off roaders even in stock form.
I have no real alliedgance (sp?) to any brand name. Every brand has vehicles
that are great, and those that aren't so hot. If you think Toyota is the
exception, just wait til the 07's and 08's become 'late models.'

also look at ford SUVs and Chevy SUVs... they say 'FORD TRUCK' or 'CHEVY TRUCK' something like that.... try gettin ur buddy to explain that one... to me, if its got a frame (not unibody) and sits at least stock height off the ground, its a truck.

A truck is technically anything that hauls or tows any sort of cargo. SUV's are a classifcation within that definition.

Just be glad we don't call it a lorry.
