Not much I can add. I like them. Considering twin stick for slick rock conditions. Manual hubs help with slick roads. Never lock in hubs on slick roads, unless already stuck. Can plow through 6-10" of snow in 2wd. Manual hubs will save your CV's anyway...

re: IFS vs. SAS: I'd buy a tube buggy before I'd SAS my 4runner. Wheeling is a means to an end, for me.

Until we have a second tow rig and an additional trailer, I'll keep wheeling our truck, but thanks for your concern.

Any bends or breaks with that landing? You went from tranny to flat, and that usually is pretty unforgiving... Then again, it is a Toyota...

By the way, do we have to continue with the slight undercurrent of animosity in this thread, or can we just enjoy the videos?

No bends or breaks. If you notice, the front end hits once, then on the second bounce the ground drops off about a foot or two. So as I came to a stop, I felt the back end up higher than the front. I was certain I had destroyed the front end. I put it in gear and drove away. That was the third and last time I got it off the ground. The other two times were in the sand and much softer landings.

4 tires in the air is o.k., so long as they are closer to the ground than your roof is...

Emphasis on the quote above. Let's keep the instigating and drama down a little bit. This is a great thread and I'd like to keep it from getting too far into the abyss.

I will be going through cleaning it up as I get time while I am here at work.

Later,

Fink

Man that's just too much momentum on the strap for me. I prefer the slow and easy approach, like winching. I expected some part of one of those vehicles or the strap to come flying apart on one of those yanks.

I know what ya mean.

A few months after that, I was stuck pretty good and had a guy in a fullsize blazer pull me out. I wasn't moving so I told him to hit it a little harder. He was using a 1 3/4" rope that was about 70' long and he probabally got it into overdrive before it got tight. It hit the back window when it broke , knocked me in the back of the head, and shotgunned the back glass all over the side of my face. Felt like superman hitting me in the back of the head with his forearm. Not something I want to repeat.

I've been pulling on people like in that vid for ~10 years with my yota and have had zero problems. You just have to take each situation with some common sense. Needless to say, I'm a little more pickey on who I let hook up to my vehicle.

All four wheels on the ground this time...I think Spike Jones was running the video camera...

Other side of the bump...Piece of Chevy got high centered. This is a far less dramatic recovery than that FJ previously posted...
