Idler arm and pitman arm question

I have an '87 4runner and I took it in to a shop to have the wheels aligned. They told both my Idler arm and Pitman arm are quite loose and need to be replaced. Where would I find the replacement parts and what are some good companies to buy from?

Read this for your idler arm:

Haven't touched my pitman arm so I'll let someone else chime in.

Must be a few hundred threads about this.

Anyway...You can pick those parts up at any auto parts store. Or order them from the plethora of online sources, including OEM.

As far as my personal recommendations, I'd need to know what type of usage/duty. Do you want stock replacement/performance? Or are you looking to upgrade to something more capable of withstanding some moderate/hardcore offroad abuse?

note: Autozone FA5040 is for a different year yota but is a direct replacement and should run about the same price as the one for the 87. I'd go with that one. Not sure there really is an "upgrade" for the pitman though.

I got my Idler and Pittman Arm from Napa, they seem to have two different standards but I went with the premium, comes with lifetime warranty. But I also get a discount too through my company.

Cheers

Super cheap and easy idler arm rebuild:

http://www.4x4wire.com/toyota/maintenance/idler/

Haven't done it myself, but I bet it works. As a general rule, most everything on your truck can be rebuilt cheaply, and be restored to original quality; and every single part they sell at any parts store is JUNK!! "Lifetime warranty" is also known as "a lifetime of replacing it"

Might try searching for "pittman arm"
