Idle issues after taking alot of water in

Well,

Got the water all out, and she ran fine for a few minutes, then I changed the oil out cause it was pretty milky looking from the water in there.

She sat for 2 days, went back pulled and regapped the plugs, took dizzy cover off and cleaned the contacts on it then started it up. Idled fine, then dropped to 350ish.

Took off VAF and cleaned it up really good, now it idles fine till warm, then drops down to 350, has a huge lugging to it if I get in it at all and will die.

Is this the TPS?

Haven't messed with it at all. I got the water out, compression checks out good, and recent headgasket replacement. Only thing I can think is the TPS, but will it cause this stuff that bad?

Other symptoms are around 3500 it will misfire and bog. then catch and go to 4k

Wow,

Glad I could bounce idea's off of everyone and there were so many responses;-)

Anyway, took the thottle body off and the TPS was not working at wide open throttle, so cut it open with my dremel, checked the board out, cleaned it as it had gotten water it and put it back together, tried it and it works so RTV'd it and it's drying. While waiting I grabbed one of my stock Mustang Throttle bodies - 65 mm, and looked at the 3vze's throttled body and figured with some massaging of my throttle body I could hog it out and fit the butterfly from the Stang in there, so working on that right now, if it doesn't work, oh well, found a spare one with a TPS on it at the local junkyard for 15 bucks, so headed to pick that up in a few minutes

Truck isn't running obviously from lack of throttle body, but hopefully the only issue left after taking in the "lake" was the TPS. Positive all the water is out of the engine now, and like I stated before compression checked out, hope I got lucky.

Oh that same yard is a heaven, they have 4 viturally untouched 3rd gens, a FJ80 I'm going to get the springs off of, and 4 L and SC 400's so the 1UZ is looking good for this when I get the funds.

Well, the TPS took a dump for sure, and my one I repaired is out of spec, kinda figured that, headed to get a new one now, hopefully she'll be back on the raod by tomorrow, picked up the extra TB but the TPS was non responsive on that one

Oh well, hopefully this is all it takes, if not, back to the drawing board

Ended up one of my plug wires had a cut on it - don't ask me how, but it got progressively worse, put new Denso wires on it, new cap, rotor, and she run's like a top now. going to replace the upper intake manifold gasket and valve cover gasket's this weekend, and put a new thermostat in and hopefully be done with this thing for a while, bodylift will be next and then the engine swap hopefully
