Identify this rear disc brake caliper.NEED REAL TIME HELP.

Can anyone tell me what kind of caliper this is on my Runner. I want to buy a rebuild kit or a rebuit caliper because this is thing is leaking brake fluid. Here's a link to some pics.

The third picture says "GM-N" on it.

thanks

Looks like the GM "small" caliper used quite often with the disc brake conversions like you apparently have. These calipers come from 78-83 Chevelle, Monte Carlo, El Camino, Malibu, Tempest, Cutlass, F-85, Pontiac Grand prix, Le Mans, GTO, Grand Am, and Bonneville (according to TSM's website).

Talking

You probably have an All-Pro Offroad rear disc conversion kit on your vehicle as it looks just like the one I had on mine.

Here's something else I found while rebuilding the caliper. I found the pads are not wearing evenly. I obviously need new pads now. So how do I keep them wearing evenly? Is this a common problem with rear disc conversions. Now knowing who manufactured the brake kit is a real disadvantage to me.

How so? I had the AP rear disc kit on my 85 4Runner before I went full floater rear end and it worked flawlessly and was still in top notch shape after 1.5 years of dd use and I sold it on YT w/ no complaints since.

So you are saying "NOT or NOW knowing who manufactured the brake kit is a real disadvantage to me?"

That is an All Pro Offroad kit I bet...see my post above. Call them for replacement parts or do some parts matching at the local auto parts store with someone other than a computer monkey at the counter...talk to the parts person that orders for the dealerships.

No, parts are not the problem, I already have the rebuild kit. It just bothers me how the pads are wearing unevenly. I'm just trying to find out if this is the way these kits work.

I went onto All Pros site and I couldn't get a close up of their rear disc kit. So I'm really not sure who made it.

When you had your AP kit, did your pads wear unevenly? If it did how did you fix it.
