I think it depends on your tranny (manual or auto). I have an auto and the t-case cooler needed to be relocated. It [cooler] sat on the passenger side frame rail, right where that header drops down. No way around it.

The heat insulating mat I was looking at comes in 4' x 6' sheets and "acts as an insulating barrier against sound, moisture, vapors and heat up to 400 degrees. It is made of a dense fiber pad coated with a fire retardant and has an aluminized outer layer." It comes in single and double sided versions.

It's in the Geno's Garage catalog that comes with my subscription to TDR. I couldn't find it on their website.
