I want a tach and gear indicator light on my dash.

So I have a 1991 v6 with an Auto trans with the shifter on the column. My instrument gauge has the large speedo and no tach.
I got hold of an sr5 instrument cluster but to use it I will not have the gear selector lights.
How did the 91 automatic trucks with the shifter on the column show the gear shift indicator lights.
Was there such a truck with an auto trans, shifter on the column and a tach, as well as gear shift indicator light on the dash?
Thanks

I don't think pre 95 trucks had shift on the column. All 4runners and trucks I have seen where floor mounted with the console indicator. The cluster is almost plug and play.

To get the gears to show on the dash you will have to retro fit/ custom wire in some indicators.

the older 2wd's had a column shifter. as for a shift indicator light youll need to buy an aftermarket tach to put on your dash. i have one it was pretty easy to install, i dont really pay attention to the light though its just for looks i guess. ill post a pic of it later or there may be one in my build thread

@ loquito: I've got a 91 column shift, but no tach on the cluster. I'll post a photo as soon as I get the truck back home if you'd like, but my cluster is probably the same as yours.

-offtopic: good luck finding a body lift for any older column shift since the shift linkage passes through the firewall next to the steering shaft.
