I need to change my light bulbs

I am running secondhand silverstar ultras and they are ready to die.

What would be good for my Hella h4 Conversions?

Im running some 80/100 diamondwhite bulbs in my truck now. they are green on the road but i love em.

they are x brand and arent dot legal. Go check a store that doesnt sell DOT stuff. Places like autozone only sell legal stuff.

What stores wouldnt sell legal stuff?

Autozone still carries cherry bomb mufflers, even though those are illegal here

i was also thinking of changing my lights, from what i read you will need to upgrade the wiring harness, I just got done replacing my upper ball joints and installed the new 26mm torsion bars
my nest plan is to install my new carpet kit and then weld in new front shock brackets then work on the lights
if you do this keep posted what and where you got and did stuff

from what i see sealed beam lights dont have that reflecter or cone or umbrella or shield covering the bulb inside. sealed beams only have a textured lens patten. sealed beams probably produce more glare.

Another question, are hids a good option?

FYI: Any bulbs that use more than 55/60 watts SHOULD[as in 'shoulda, woulda, coulda'] be using an upgraded harness/relay. I like the one I got from rallylights.com.

Dont think so, these were "off road use only" bulbs.

My hella 80/100w Xeon blue bulbs along with their 200mm e-code lenses. Best setup ever!! very nice white light output, not that good in the rain though, but I have yellow fogs for that now.

I just used the factory wiring and it seems to work fine. As far as glare, it dont rain much here, but I was down in Texas a while back and it was rainin like a cow peeing on a flat rock and I noticed some glare of of the road signs. Whole lot more light then factory. I understand that these have a European light pattern and that is different then what we a used to, and I like them fine. I have them adjusted pretty low and very seldom get flashed by anyone, but if I do, it dont take much of the high beams to get them to dim theirs......regards.....Rick
