I just acquired a 5M-GE
So I broke my Supra:
And I bought this one for parts ($350):
Turns out the front cowl piece was ed on that one so I couldn't get the one of the main parts I wanted, I did however still get the headlight cover piece, a new radiator (mine died), cold air intake, nice bent exhaust pipe with a cherry bomb for a cat () and a muffler with a big ass 4" tip (I know what you're thinking but no way, I'm not putting that on my Supra, I'm selling it, make some cash back).
What else I got was a 5MGE. Not sure how it's running, but it should be fine.
My truck needs a new engine, see!
And now I have one laying around, obviously not what I had planned (5vze) but it's been done.
My only question so far, and I've been ing, is, how much of a pain in the ass is it going to be to mate a 5MGE with a R154.. I've read some stuff on CelicaSupra but that's more towards swapping in a R154 into a Supra which is ass backwards and almost a feat in itself.

what tranny does your truck have? and what transmission does the car have?
if your truck has a w56 and the supra has a w58, u can use the bellhousing off the supra to bolt it directly to your truck. the motor mounts should be a direct bolt in too.
u can avoid the r series nightmare with the 5mge, unless u add a turbo.

I want to thank you for putting that damn yellow car out of its misery finally.
As for the swap, You can take the R150 out of your truck, andswap the tail shaft, and rear housing out with the one on the R154, allowing you to bolt the R154 to your transfer case. Then it's a simple matter of getting a 7M-GTE flywheel, and clutch kit, and mating the 5M-GE to the R154.

I'm parting out an '85 Celica GT-S if you need any interior parts. I just sold the front fenders and flares for like 300 I couldnt belive people would pay that much for them.

What's the saying? One mans garbage is another man's goldmine?
At least you got something for the parts... and judging by your post, more than you thought you'd get.

I'm guessing you've seen that poor yellow thing before? See the 4" diesel muffler? Ugh.. At least it's shiny and I can sell it to my bling-loving friend to put on his Jetta. Actually had a nice pipe from the cat back though, and a cherry bomb swapped in for the cat..
I always thought the 4runners had the r154, but I guess I was wrong, which means then, what I really want to do is bolt this engine to a r150.. What's the synopsis on that?
Also, still down to lend a hand even though I'm not doing the 5vze?

5Ms are actually pretty fun motors and can be boosted very easily.
Check out what my buddy did with a 7M:

the input shaft on the r154 is to longer than the r150 v6 4wd tranny, so when u bolt up the r154 bellhousing to the r150, the r150 input shaft is too short. and u cant swap out input shafts, they have different gear ratios. but your 5m powered supra should have a w-58 tranny so u could swap in a w56 out of any 22re powered truck from 85-94 and a set of dual t-cases.

Like I said before, if you want to stick with an R series (hey, why not, they're tough), grab an R154 out of a turbo MA70 Supra (The transmissions usually sell for $400 or so around Alberta), and swap the tail shaft, and rear housing with the one on your R150. Alternatively, there are some later generation R150s on some later gen trucks (sorry, I don't know specific models), that had the longer input shaft.
Alternatively, like 85excab said, 5Ms work well with W series transmissions.
And yes, I've seen that yellow car so many times before. I've seen it pass through probably 4 different owners now. I'm not sure if you're a member, but you should check out the Alberta Supra Club www.supraclub.ca. They can hook you up with all sorts of parts for your swap.

Correct, the input shaft on the R154 is about an inch longer than the input shaft on an R150. So, while the bellhousing WILL bolt up to the transmission, the shaft will never be able to contact with the clutch.

And yeah, that car definitely needs to be put to sleep. Few more days and she'll be crushed. Just need to pull the engine, but I have to find a hoist. I've found two but neither are in town and I don't want to tow this stupid ing car all over.
I've tried to sign up to that website twice now with no luck and no response from the administrators.
