I have two door handles on one door - wtf?
I happened to notice today for the first time that my passenger side door has two door handles on the inside. One is forward, at the same place that the driver's side is, and the other is at the back of the door and right above the armrest. They both work, and look totally stock. Is this a 4Runner thing? What on earth would the purpose be?

its so someone sitting in the back seat can get out on their own. there's a foot pedal to release the passenger seat forward and then they reach the back handle that's closer.

Hah, never even thought of that. I rarely use the back seats in either of my vehicles to actually carry people. Lol, plus the cable is broken on the passenger seat, so backseat passengers are gonna have a hell of a time getting out anyway.

1. Remove all the trim pieces that cover the bolts holding the top on.
2. Disconnect wiper/washer in the rear corner recess.
3. Remove all bolts holding the top on.
4. Lift off top.
You should be able to do it without pics, yes?

Thanks for the help guys. Actually, my wiper is non-existant.
The trim pieces you speak of, are they the ones wrapping around the b pillar, or down the length of the topper to?
I think I shoud invest in an owners manual...
