I got issues...

I just did an IFS Job on my 94 ext cab 4x4, NEW CV's, Rancho shocks, TRE's, ball joints (upper and lower), as well as the sway bar bushings. I took the thing in to have it aligned and the mechanic told me the LCA bushing's were fine. I had asked him to look at the UCA bushings and he told me "I forgot to look at those." After installing the sway bar bushings this morning I took my rig for a 2 mile pot hole ride. The clunking, pounding sound was still there as evident as ever! At this point I am at a loss for what is causing this. It is in my humble opinion the clunking sound is coming from the bump stops or the UCA bushings. I am not sure what else it could be

My issue is I don't want tear the UCA apart, take it out, press in the new bushings and all that to find out they are not the problem.
Any input on what is going on here would be much appreciated!!!
I couldnt find a distributor for 94 4x4 extended cab bump stops. A link to order a set would be appreciated. I figure I may as well change those.
thanks

Have you looked at your Idler arm? I had the same problem, and my idler arm was worn beyond belief.

I just replaced it and the pitman arm a month ago. The clunk is more noticeable on the drivers side (louder.)

you might be overextending the shocks... are the new shocks long enough or shimmed to accomodate the extended lower arm travel provided by the ball joint spacers? it's mentioned on sdori's and 4crawler's installation instructions.

I looked at your write up and didn't see any photo or mention of it.

well, I took that into account. However, this issue with the clunking was going on before I installed the new Rancho shocks or any repair on the front end for that matter.

Being that I don't own a front end repair shop nor do I do UCA and LCA repairs on a regular basis I am not sure how to determine what is "visibly good." What should I look for? Is it possible to tell if the hardware inside the sleeve is good or bad? I have looked at the LCA bushings and the UCA bushings and it is difficult to tell if they are bad or good. Unless there is something I am not seeing.
thanks!

Well, i would look and see if they are all still there for starters. then look and see if they are cracked or not.

Wow that sucks...

Sure it isn't the swaybar or anything simple?

If it is the UCA bushings, you're in for one hell of a job to get those out. You have to remove the tbars to do it, as well as the spindles. You might be able to leave the spindles hooked up but they'll flop out on you and ruin the CV's if you're not careful.

Have you tried walking beside the truck while someone drives it over some bumps to see if you can hear it?

Also, make sure your body mount bolts are tight. I had a noise from one of those once too.

spent a few hours under the thing today rattling around making sure everything was tight. Nothing moving, nothing visible. On the shock one of the rubber shock bushings was below the metal washer down in the rubber sock. I dont know how that happened.
New sway bar bushings look good. I suppose I will have to take the thing in to have an "expert" look at it. I cant figure it out. Any more input would be great!
I might do my rig like the one below. That would fix it for sure.
