Its a major PITA to pull that t-case off. Does it have to be done? What are you trying to do?

As for my remark about this board and its lack of accurate tech, well besides this perticular post,....Ah forget it, I dont want to get into it.

Let me know if you want info on taking that biotch apart.

Thank you for replying back. I am trying to take the case off as i have some one wanting to buy it and i need to get a weight on it to get shipping quote. So yes it needs to come off,but if it comes off in pieces then i don't really think he would want it. He needs a case for his truck that has a good trans but a bad case.I am parting out this truck "kind of" in prep for a 3.4 and 5 spd manual conversion as my 3.0 blew up and i will be keeping this truck for a long time so it is worth the effort and $$ diffrence to put in the 3.4 my 3.0 has bad heads and i have bought 3 sets of "good" heads that have been bad

Thanks
JC

YES I NEED THE HELP

PS do these trans/cases usally sell in one unit?? i thought i found new rebuilt cases for this truck on Ebay before

just need to sell this stuff i wont need so i can buy some things i do need

yes you probably did see an add for a transfer case for a 340h on ebay. It was more than likely a scam in a way.

The 340h trans and transfer is ONE (1) unit.

Basically there is no way to seperate the transfer case on the 340h unless some type of cutting tool is used. The 340h trans and transfer is ONE (1) unit.

hmm ok then i guess the guy wanting this is as new to yota as i am he is from this site

at least i know how to take the case off of the trans i WILL be putting in lol

More than likely the buyer doesnt know what he is in for. He likely has some sort of t-case issue and is assuming the same thing you have. No you do not want to send him the t-case and he doesnt want to receive the t-case because you will be sending him clutches, springs, planetarys.... And like Automatics trans, unless you are a skilled pro he will never get it back togeather and functioning properly.

I suggest contacting him and explaining this to him (i can help if you would like) and offer to send him the trans/tcase as one unit, as this is how these units are sold anyway.

However, if you do want to take it apart and send him a couple 5gal buckets of parts let me know I can tell you step by step by step by step....

ooook well that's nice to know i guess got to lean this stuff somehow just like i had to learn on the US made stuff mostly dodge. anyway thanks for all the help i won't be taking it apart i can tell ya that much. lol I sent him a pm all ready so we will see if he wants the whole thing. I know my local shop said something like 1,300 for a reman when i was thinking about keeping the auto and 3.0.I usally sell used parts half of what a new one cost as a rule.are these worth that?? The case has rtv on all the gasket surfaces like it has been rebuilt it worked great before the engine blew "says the P.O" and the trans was shifting early he said but that was after he blew the head gaskets and keep driving it for 2 months. The fluid looks good in it so not sure if the trans was going out or if the comp was screwing up due tot he engine not running right

what is a auto-case worth used with little first had info of how it ran all i have is what the P.O said and what it did when i drove it around the block to the trailer
Thanks
JC

P.S i see you have done the 3.4 and standard stuff want to help me out on that i have read tons of info on it and there is still some foggy areas

Well in the toyota world an auto trans that has never been cracked open and has 200,000 miles on it is worth more than a remanned IMO. A perfectly working one with 150,000 mi on it is worth 200-400$. It was worthless before the inchworm dual case adapted hit the market. The reason they arent worth much is because they rarely go bad. and demand isnt huge. I put 150,000 miles on my a340h and half of that was in an increasingly modified off road vehicle. And when I opened it up there was still text on the clutches! IIRC

As for the 3.4 swap help, sure Ive done 3 swaps and am pretty comfortable with them.

Never done a auto-5spd swap. I would imagine its pretty easy. Im sure all the mounts are there (clutch peddal, master cylinder, etc.). I would first search here on yotatech in the 3.4 swap section. Also many people have swapped to a stick, do a search here as well. Also I know alot of guys on Pirate4x4.com have done it as well, but its hard to search that board with out being a $20 supporter, and I dont recommend posting much there. Its more a place of learning and reading.

done quite a bit of searching here for the 5spd swap not really much found unless a 3.0 auto to 5spd swap is the same as a 3.4 i have found info on swaping a 3.0 auto to 3.0 5spd but nothing on 3.0 auto to 3.4 5 spd and ya good stuff on pirate but like you said not a good place to ASK i stopped going there due to what i consider A-HOLE comments i see no need to flame someone for asking a question and not even bother to give a answer maybe if ya answer then ya can flame them in good fun of course

Thanks for all the help i will send ya a email and my # for help on the 3.4 swap

yep there was a few things i did manage to get answers to and i did ask more but most of it was just rude comments etc. lol but for the thread i was thinking it would be good for the next guy that way the info would be there should be fun and like i said before i only got to drive this truck around the block up onto my trailer and that was with blown HG and i liked it and from what i see about these lil trucks it will be fun to drive i am building a mostly street/work truck hence the 3.4 and standard for gas mileage and power but i will offroad it some nothing major that is what i have my full size for i can see a mini offroader in the future tho
