i paid 650 for my '79 project. drove it as a dd for 2 years then started working on it. then the problems really crept out. it'll be pretty workable before too long though.

for my '91 i got a screaming deal on it, $2750. it's in almost immaculate shape, the only dent on the entire truck is on the top of the tailgate and it's only noticable if you put light on it a certain way in the dark(i can't even feel it). it does have a rust spot by the tailpipe though -- the original rotted off and spewed exhaust(heat + water = RUST) on the body. other than that, all i've had to do to it is replace the timing chain and clutch.

$13000 for my 2000 Taco that is in my sig. Paid for it about 2 weeks ago. Came with all the specs you see in my sig, bought it from a private party.

$15000 for my 2000 4runner that is also in my sig. Paid for it almost 2 years ago. Came with nothing in the sig cept the exhaust, bought it from a Land Rover stealership.

I feel like I paid a bit to much for mine. I bought it in '04 with 30k miles, standard '01 SR5 sport edition 4x4. The previous owner had brush guards and a system done. Paid $20k, cash out the door at a Stealership in NJ. The truck was in immaculate condition when I bought it though. If I had it to do again, I probably would have bought an 80s cruiser, or something with 2 SAs, I planned on driving it a lot more than I do and I feel bad beating on it. This was it like a day after I got it off the lot.

it's changed a little since then.

I paid $2500 for mine, but the motor was bad. I paid the Toy Man here in Portland about $1600 (plus signed over another '90 I had which had been hit 3 times in 1 year) to swap engines, trannies, timing belt, water pump, clutch bracket, full tune-up, and few other things. Other than putting on a cat and some accessories, pretty much all the extras in my sig came with the truck.

I got both of mine, 85(trail rig) and 87(dd), for under $5K, but they are worth a LOT more than that now. Best part is...no $400/month car payment that I can put into the rigs.

93 SR5 pickup, V6 Auto on 31" Timberlines. Paid $6100, put new Ranchos on it, new exhaust, sold it 6 months later because it was so rusty I could not work on it. Sold it for $6000 to an hombre who drove it straight to Mexico.

88 4Runner DLX 4banger 5speed, with TJM bumper + 9000lb Warn winch. New red paint jobby, supposedly rebuilt lower end, not a SPOT of rust. Needed lots of standard maintenance since the owners treated it like a lawnmower. Dad talked him down from $4500 to $2500. After about $1000 or a little more of necessary maintenance, i.e., new exhaust, HG, exhaust manifold, u-joints, new rear leafs, timing chain, water pump, oil pump, etc. it's got 210k miles and drives and runs like a dream.

$720 for a dead 88-4R. $8000 later and a full mechanical restoration later (engine, tranny, diffs, suspensions, frame and chassis fully restored), I have an 88-4R with only 20 miles on it. I still need to get it registered before I can drive it.
