I, myself, shift around 3500 in every gear. I've got 33's with the stock 4.10's. I live in the mountains, so there are a couple local hills that I have to keep it revved at 3500 in 3rd to get up the hill. I do occasionally hit 4k though so I can shift into 4th for a few hundred feet, just to pop it back into 3rd at 2800 and catch back up to 3500 and possibly repeat the same process.

When i go to Hesperia, CA there is a very steep incline on the I-15 NB and i usually can keep it in 4th gear @ 3000 rpm and stay around 60mph. I can kickdown to 3rd and speed up to 75mph @ 4500 rpm. I can't keep it in OD because it will bog down the hill is really steep. On leveled highways i can easily redline and make it to 90mph in about 14 sec. I usually only go past 3000 rpm when i need to pass someone on the highway.

Mine runs like crap when it's cold.
To get going in 1st with any decent accelaration you have to pretty much dump the clutch at 2500-3k. If you dont let the 3v warm up in the cold in runs like a complete dog bucking and surging especially in 3rd around 2500rpm it surges like 5 times in a row and it feels like its going to die. then once it warms up runs like a champ
