how do get the warnhub bolts out??
i have to do the wheelbearings, but i cant get the allen key warn hub cover plate bolts out. i was able to crack on off on the one side and a couple on the other, but it took way too much force, one of them is stripped, and i even bent the crap out of one of my allen keys, i also sprayed them with penetrating oil. i wasnt shure what else to try so i decided to try and drill the head of the bold(that was the part that seamed seazed on the ones i got off). but the drill bit wouldnt even penetrate. was my drill bit just dull or are they hardend metal?
i dunno what else to do, any suggestions, what would u guys do? should i just try and break/cut the cap and just replace the hubs with a set of aisins?

do you have allen socket? can you get one? use a hammer to drive it on, the vibrations should help shock it some and make it easier. if th reg size does not due it try the next size up allen socket. Having replacement bolts would be a good idea before you go back together, if its your only vehicle you might want to get them before dissambly

Just curious did you install these hubs??
Perhaps they were on the vehicle when you bought it.
Kroil spray/ Repeat as needed
I love my Warn Hubs and never have any issues but I neverseize all the hardware upon installing them. I also had nothing but grief with the Aisin hubs but that comes from the former owners of the vehicles no doubt
I also have never used anything but a allen socket to remove them.
To each his own.
Anyone wanting to get rid of your Warn Hubs( Because they are no good) I am sure we can work something out drop me a PM.
Are Warn Winches also Junk??

this isnt my only vehicle so its no big deal when or how this happens.
yes i have an allen key socket but it is what stripped the one the first time, maybe if i actually get a good quality one that might help lol? and the next size up i have is too big even to hammer in. do they make odd # sizes?
and these warn hubs were on the truck when i bought it (and everything else on this truck seems to be seized lol). i would actually like to go to aisins, but only if the ifs ones match the solid axle ones, which i don't think they do? i dunno? i had aisins on my last one and i like them alot more, but they seemed to get stiff sooner then the warn's, but if i ever cleaned them and regreased them i'm shure they would be fine.
and i've heard good things about kroil, but where do you buy it, can u buy it in canada?
thanks cris

i heard aisin hubs are much more stronger then warn's (dont bash me lol i have no idea if thats true, im not against warn or anything) along with many other aisin parts vs. aftermarket.
the thing i dont like about warn's is that you have to turn the hub almost 180 degrees to lock/unlock it, while aisin hubs are only about a 90 degree rotation
makes your wrist hurt after awhile

I don't think you need to remove the cover to change the bearings...Just remove the nuts around the hub. then you can pull the whole thing out. You will then see the 54mm nuts holding the bearings.
Infact, the Warns hubs are known to have those nuts walking out.
It's not the nut on the face plate of the hub.....

there is a snap ring or bolt in the shaft under the cover so it has to come off, i used to have those and they are alot weaker than aisin hubs. no cone washers for one, and you might have to bust off those heads and extract the inside once the cover is off

x2 on the bolt at the end of the shaft, and i think one of mine is backing off. after getting fed up with the bolts i tried to take the whole thing off just in case lol, and one was still tight and was was loose, but they dont come off without removing that bolt & washer first.
