How common are the super base 4wds
I was wondering how common the super base model 4wd trucks with no power steering or a/c were/are. I have seen more with power steering than without.

I had one, thank god I totaled it and my insurance gave me what happened to be enough to buy a tacoma. Best thing that ever happened to me.
But seriously. Those models are DLX models.

The reason I ask is mine has no power steering, no a/c, and wing windows (aka ghetto a/c). The only other 4wd one I have seen like this was a friends 85 toyota.

Yeah have both accessories here as well. I love my DLX I just miss my Extended Cab. Other than that and the SR5 interior, about it as I finally have the powerplant and drivetrain I've been wanting.

Mine must be rare then. Being the only "option" it has is the wing windows.
Being it has no power steering, its still easier to turn than my 1 ton 2wd with manual steering. I think they gave the 4wd manual steering box a different ratio.

I think so. Honestly I had never really seen them on a truck until a few days ago when a fresh Extended Cab came into the pull-a-part. Went all over it. I think some moron traded it in on the cash for clunker's program. Way too nice to be at a salvage yard. Freshly serviced too.

Wing windows are definitely nice to have. Until this truck came along, I haven't seen them on anything but the SR5s and some DLX extra cabs.

Its possible that someone swapped doors on you truck, and thats why you have wing windows. My 86 4Runner SR5 had wing windows and i swapped the doors for ones with out wing windows because i don`t like em.

It has the factory acid etch tags with the vin codes on them. The original owner must've been paranoid about theft, as every body panel has the tags on them, and the tail gate bolts are tacked in place with a welder.

What is the difference between the DLX and SR5 models.
I have a '92 Xtra cab, it has A/C and P/S. I know it's not the SR5, but not sure what a DLX model is.

I've got the wing windows too, it's an extended cab DLX. I have noticed while driving that some have them but most do not. I actually like them.
As far as the cash for clunkers went, people traded in some very decent vehicles that were paid off & now they have a nice new car & payment to go with it! I have been seeing a lot of very nice (clunkers) at the pic a part yard. What a shame. Not many Yotas though but that's nothing new around here.

The cash for clunkers program (thank God it's over) was a kick in the balls for older Toyota Truck owners IMO. Don't get me wrong as I have personaly seen that one I was referring to but there's nothing worse than seeing one of these in perfectly good condition ready to be crushed. I know it hurt car enthusiasts as well but I actually sold my Hotrod to get back into one of these. DLX or SR5, you can't do any better IMO.
