BTW guys, IF you have a first-gen here's another option: The green wire (the segment in yellow heat-shrink) in pic below is another good place to tap positive +12V from that is on only when tail lights are on.

Please note that picture shows it cut in order to do my deck lamp mod (also on my build thread).
